Camping Pitches

We have five spacious hard-standing  pitches 10m long by 6m wide that offer a comfortable and scenic setting for your caravan or camper, each with convenient water supply, electric hook up and grey water disposal. There is reasonable 4G signal on site.

Please note we don't have any showers or toilets.

If you're in a small van and want to stay consider getting a porta potti or even a camping shower.

Next to the camping area we have 4 to 5 acres of fields for dog walks and a short dog walk down to the stream. Or plan a walk to the wonderful Moel y Ci Cafe on the slate miners paths through beautiful farmland.  These old paths provided access to the local slate quarry which is now recognised as a world heritage site.

Carfan is a great base camp for hill-walking in  Snowdonia or if your as keen on cycling as we are there are tonnes of great road, gravel and mountain biking routes nearby, feel free to ask me or check out  sustrans and trailforks for more info.

North Wales is possibly the best rock climbing destination in the UK and we are well placed for driving to Ogwen, Llanberis Pass, Tremadog, Gogarth and the Great Orme click on the link below if you need a guide/instructor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What activities are available near the campsite?

There are great walks from the campsite onto our local hill Moel Y Ci. Paddleboarding and open water swimming are possible in Llyn Padarn which is only a 5-minute drive or 20-minute bike ride plus loads of great road cycling, gravel biking and mountain biking nearby.

Are pets allowed at the campsite?

Yes, we welcome well-behaved pets, please keep dogs on leads as we are surrounded by farmland with sheep and cows, we also have horses chickens and ducks at Ysgubor Carfan.

Is there a grocery store nearby for supplies?

There are local grocery stores in Bangor, Bethesda, and Llanberis within a short driving distance from the campsite, and the nearby Beran filling station is well stocked for the lastminute shop.

We were greeted with a warm welcome from Paul. When he asked what we would like to do whist staying here, he had amazing local knowledge. We did walks and biking from the site and also many more just a short car ride away. It's very well positioned to adventure around this corner of Wales. We booked for one week and ended up staying for two, could have stayed longer as there is so much to do. The site is in a wonderful position with views across the mountains and valleys and quiet and tranquil.

Booked at very short notice in early April and site owner, Paul , sent booking form and we were on our way in day or two. We must be one of the first to discover this very picturesque site.....and very pleasant site owners. We had a glorious 4 night stay with excellent weather and would possibly revisit in the future. Just returned from a second stay at Ysgubor Carfan - as a novice campervan owner. What a beautiful location - stunning views without leaving your van! Completed a walk recommended by Paul - on both visits with amazing views of the Carneddau. Linda and Paul were most welcoming. Enjoyed a most peaceful break - will be back!

Really good welcome from Lynda, who told us about the area and some great places to walk and cycle. We really enjoyed our walk up moan-y-ci great view of Yr Wyddfa from the top and back to the camp site. We also very much enjoyed cycling the Ogwen trail from Bangor to Ogwen valley such a green trail through the valley. Suitable for beginners and folding bikes. We also enjoyed cycling to caernarfon along the lane left from the campsite which was so narrow it was more like a footpath in places, with no cars just pedestrians. The site has great views of Eryri. Water and EHU to reach pitch and clean chemical disposal.

Brilliant place for a break. Beautiful views all around, the family (owners) were always happy to help, but also very respectful of your privacy. Its only a few minutes away from the sea, a lake and obviously snowdonia. But also remote enough to have beautiful views. Couldn't recommend it any more if you just wanted a few peaceful days away.

I absolutely loved my stay at this site. For me, as someone not familiar with the area, it was great being able to talk to Paul (my host) about local bike trails and walking routes. He provided me with maps and much appreciated local knowledge. I have a camper van and found the facilities to be perfect: Hook-up, water and toilet waste disposal point is all I needed. The site is well maintained, secure and easy to get to. I was blessed with beautiful weather, wonderful sunrises and sunsets and amazing views of the mountain range. What's not to like? 5 star site and hosts.
